Each client who comes to PATHOS has a unique and personal story to tell. They use a variety of art materials in which to assist in his narrative of self-discovery and healing. The following art pieces are created by clients with me facilitating the creative-expressive process and offering technical guidance. Every project is tailored to the unique expressive needs of the individual. All names and identifying information have been changed to protect the confidentiality of clients."
911
Client stated, “This is my mother coming out of her bedroom in her pj’s screaming for me to call 911.” Illustration completed in response to therapist inquiring about client’s fears and anxieties.

It is estimated that approximately 10 million children in the United States are exposed to wife abuse each year (Straus, 1991).
Broken Alligator
The alligator is…“angry and broken just like my family.”
A nine year old boy sculpted this alligator illustrating visually his feelings about his parent’s recent divorce after ten years of marriage.
Gravesite Flowers
The client visit’s her father’s grave, each Sunday with her grandparents, and places flowers on his grave with her grandmother. Watercolor painting by a four year old girl experimenting with color and exploring feelings about the death of her father.
The Divorce
Client stated the following, "The blue string represents the family going in one direction then all of a sudden there was this divorce (pointing to the scissors) and the family split in two. One blue string represents mom’s life and the other dad’s life. The little styrofoam pieces on the top of the arch represent all of us children.”
A thirteen year old boy constructed this 3D sculpture to represent his current feelings about his parent’s divorce after 25 years together.
Green Alien
Client stated about his Alien, “He has lots of special powers…a force field shield that protects him, a ray gun if anyone gets close, only one weak spot which I am not going to show you… and… His mouth is wide because he is screaming inside but no one hears him.”

Walking on Fire
